Patient apps, scheduling platforms and AI assistants for healthcare
We build web and mobile apps for clinics, practices and healthcare startups, from appointment booking to patient and provider portals. We built a doctor-appointment platform with patient, doctor and admin apps (a web portal plus iOS and Android, with insurance verification) and maintained it for more than six years. We also built an AI patient assistant for dental practices: a website chatbot running on OpenAI under a signed business associate agreement, plus a phone assistant on Twilio. Our healthcare platform case study shows a platform combining clinic websites, scheduling and an AI assistant with human handoff. We plan data access and security requirements with your team before choosing the architecture.

Plan healthcare data safeguards from the start
We work with your compliance lead to define role-based access, audit trails, encryption, retention and vendor requirements. For US projects involving electronic protected health information (ePHI), review the exact services covered by each business associate agreement (BAA) before patient data is processed. A BAA or a set of technical controls alone does not make an organization HIPAA compliant; risk analysis, policies and ongoing operations also matter. See HHS guidance on cloud services and HIPAA.
This is for you if
- You run a clinic or practice and want your own booking or patient app
- You are launching a healthcare startup and need a first version fast
- You want an AI front desk that answers patients day and night
- You have a healthcare app that needs updates, fixes or a new team
What a healthcare app costs
Healthcare apps start from $4,000, like all our published app pricing. Real patient data, more roles and integrations such as EHR or insurance checks move a project into the higher ranges. All figures are planning ranges in USD; your written proposal names the safeguards and integrations included.
| Scope | Planning budget | Planning timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Focused first version: booking app, simple portal or front-desk assistant | $4,000–$10,000 | 4–6 weeks |
| Patient-data app with several roles and integrations | $10,000–$20,000 | 6–12 weeks |
| Complex platform with multiple roles, locations or integrations | $20,000+, scoped individually | 12–16+ weeks |
Vendor approvals and compliance review can extend the schedule. Hosting, paid services, developer accounts and ongoing maintenance are separate. Read our healthcare app planning guide for more detail.
How we work with healthcare teams
We start with your patients, staff, data flows and existing systems, then define the first version and its acceptance criteria. Design, development and testing follow, with your feedback on working builds. App-store submission is included when it is part of the agreed scope; approval timing is controlled by the stores. Our published app pricing includes 30 days of post-launch support. Ongoing maintenance is quoted separately.
Healthcare app questions
Healthcare apps start from $4,000 for a focused first version, such as a booking app or a simple patient portal. Apps handling real patient data with several roles or integrations usually cost $10,000 to $20,000, and complex platforms $20,000 or more. These are USD planning ranges. Use the app cost calculator for a range based on your idea; the written proposal confirms safeguards, integrations and vendor costs.
We build technical safeguards around the requirements agreed with your compliance team. HIPAA compliance also depends on risk analysis, policies, contracts and day-to-day operation. It cannot be guaranteed by a development page or a vendor agreement alone. Your compliance lead should review the architecture and operating responsibilities before launch.
Yes. When our work involves protected health information, we sign a BAA with you before we access any patient data, and we use vendors that sign BAAs for the services that handle it, as we did with OpenAI for an AI patient assistant. A BAA on its own does not make a project HIPAA compliant: risk analysis, policies and day-to-day operations matter too. Until the agreements are in place, we develop with test data.
Yes. We built an AI patient assistant for dental practices: a website chatbot with voice input running on OpenAI under a signed business associate agreement, plus a phone assistant on Twilio, handling practice information, appointment requests and handoff to staff. Phone and messaging integrations need a review of vendor access, data handling and the workflow. An administrative assistant is not a substitute for clinical advice or emergency care.
We can scope booking, intake and other workflows around a video provider selected with your team. For ePHI, confirm that the exact service and configuration are covered by the required agreements. Integration access, vendor charges and compliance review affect the quote.
Yes. We begin with a review of the code, dependencies, infrastructure and available documentation. We then propose fixes and a maintenance scope, including responsibilities for security updates and release testing.
A focused first version usually takes 4 to 6 weeks. Patient-data apps and more complex platforms typically need 6 to 16 weeks or longer, depending on features and integrations. Vendor approvals, access to existing systems and your compliance review can extend the schedule.
Our published pricing includes transfer of project source code and IP to you, subject to the contract and third-party licences. Register store and infrastructure accounts in your organization’s name. Patient data remains subject to patient rights, applicable law and the agreed responsibilities for access, retention and deletion.
